About Me

Even though this is my personal blog, viewed mostly by the people who know me, I still wanted to take a chance to introduce myself.

I am a 27 year old neuroscientist who works in Fragile X and Down Syndrome research currently. My Ph.D. work was on Parkinson's disease. Now you may wonder what ties those together and that is the model system of stem cells.

Outside of science, I enjoy running, but don't get to do it as much as I would like. I often need motivation to run after a long day at work and that usually comes in the form of signing up for a race.

I spend a large portion of my free time reading a variety of books. I don't have one type that I enjoy, its more about the story itself. I also listen to audio books during my hour commute. They make the drive bearable.

My dogs are the loves of my life. I got Peanut, a Greyhound/Lab mix, as a puppy when I was in Grad School so I call her my "Grad School Doggie." Buddy, a Jack Russel mix, is technically my boyfriend's dog, but I will claim him anyway :).

I have a love for clothes and shoes which I talk about on my other blog The Blissful Academic. Be sure to check it out!
